"Paris et les pays du sol", an exhibition by John Firth

The Alliance Française de Canberra is delighted to present Paris et les pays du sol from 17 May to 7 June!

After the success of his first exhibition Paris et les pays du vin in 2017, Canberra architect John Firth returns to present a selection of his fascinating watercolours and oils, which faithfully capture the atmosphere of iconic places in Paris and villages in the South of France.

Join us for the Opening Night of the exhibition on Friday 17 May at 6:30pm and chat with the artist over a drink!

Exhibition overview

About the artist

John is a Canberra architect and urban designer, whose study and extensive travel in Europe have resulted in a major collection of sketches, watercolours and oils, principally focussed on the architectural, urban and landscape history of France and northern Italy. His works encompass many of the iconic cities, towns and villages of France, particularly in the Paris, Provence, Côte d'Azur, Burgundy, Bordeaux regions. The works are mainly pictorial, which seek to capture the unique character, atmosphere and light of their location and setting. Most of the exhibition is of watercolours created over the last decade.
